Fort Monmouth

Fort Monmouth is located primarily in the borough of Eatontown NJ. The main gate (West Gate) for Fort Monmouth is at the intersection of Rte 537 (Tinton Avenue) and Rte 35 in Eatontown, approximately 3 miles from Garden St Parkway Exit 105.

As you leave Newark Airport, watch the traffic signs carefully. Take US 1 and 9 South to Rte 81 to NJ Turnpike to the Garden St Parkway at Exit 11. Take the Garden St Parkway to Exit 105.

Make sure you have a current driver's license, registration, and inspection. Seat belts are mandatory on base. Observe posted speed limits and parking restrictions at all times. These driving directions will take you through the Hartwell Avenue Gate.

From Logan International Airport...

From the airport follow traffic signs to I-93 North. If your car rental agency is not in the airport, ask them for directions to I-93 North.
Take I-93 North to the exit for I-95 and MA Rte 128 South (Exit 37) From 95/128 South take Exit 31B (MA Routes 4and 225).
Stay in right lane. Approximately 1/4 mile bear right (before light) to take left turn onto Hartwell Avenue.
Follow Hartwell Ave. straight until you reach the gate to Hanscom (Approx. 1 mile) Stop at gate & tell guard you are going to Building 1124.
After gate take 2nd left (1st set of lights). At second stop sign take a Left.
At fork, go right up the hill & take second left. Building 1124 is the last building on your right.

From MA Turnpike and Points South...

Get to I-95 North/MA Rte 128 North. Take Exit 31B (MA Routes 4 and 225) Follow ramp over 128.
Stay in right lane. Approximately 1/4 mile bear right (before light) to take left turn onto Hartwell Avenue.
Follow Hartwell Ave. straight until you reach the gate to Hanscom (Approx. 1 mile) Stop at gate & tell guard you are going to Building 1124.
After gate take 2nd left (1st set of lights). At second stop sign take a Left.
At fork, go right up the hill & take second left. Building 1124 is the last building on your right.

From Public Transportation (MBTA) Alewife Station...

Take Bus 76 (Cost $1.00) which leaves every 1/2 hour on the hour until 8:30a.m. Ride takes approx. 40 min.
It's a ten minute walk from the bus stop, so 8am bus is best
Get off bus at Phillips Laboratory Stop. Facing building, go left. At first stop sign take a left At fork go right up the hill & take second left.
Building 1124 is the 2nd building on your right.

From airport and downtown DC...

I-395 North (SE expressway) to I-295 South. Follow I-295 to Exit 1, "Naval Research Lab" (the one after the exit for Bolling).
Turn right at the first light. This will take you in through the back gate to Bolling.
From the gate, you can see the white building on the left, The Navy Center for Advanced Research in Artificial Intelligence.
Make a U-turn just after you enter the gate to get to the road that runs by the AI center.

From Baltimore and Points North...

Take the B-W parkway to Kenilworth Ave/295 south to NRL exit and proceed as above.

From "southern tier" (Alexandria, Fairfax County, and most of PG County)...

Take I-95/495 (the Beltway) to the exit for I-295 at the east end of the Wilson Bridge.
Go north on I-295 to the first exit, marked "Naval Research Lab."
At the light, turn right, and follow the road to the second light, which will be the back gate to Bolling.
From the gate, you can see the white building on the left, The Navy Center for Advanced Research in Artificial Intelligence.
Make a U-turn just after you enter the gate to get to the road that runs by the AI center.

Upon arriving at the R&E Building, go to the Visitor Control Center (VC). located inside the main entrance. You may call your sponsor from there to pick you up.

From National Airport..

Take I-395 (SE Expressway) to I-295 North.
Follow I-295 North (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) to Route 32 East towards Annapolis.
Take Route 32 East to the second traffic light.
Take a left onto Emory Road.
Follow to the dead end and take a right onto O'Brien Road.
At the traffic light, turn left into the parking lot.
The R&E Building is across the street from the parking lot.

From Baltimore-Washington Airport...

Take I-195 to I-295 South towards Washington.
Follow I-295 South (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) to the NSA Employee Exit. The exit puts you on Canine Road.
Turn left onto Emory Road. At the dead end, turn right onto O'Brien Road.
At the traffic light, turn left into the parking lot.
The R&E Building is across the street from the parking lot.

Take I-195 to I-295 South towards Washington.
Follow I-295 South (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) to the NSA Employee Exit.
The exit puts you on Canine Road.

Stay on O'Brien Rd. through the traffic light and then turn right onto Samford Road.
Gatehouse 10 is on the left.
Use the parking lot across the street from Gatehouse 10.
